BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS OF THE GREATER TWIN CITIES

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters is to enrich young people’s lives through one-to-one friendships. In 2006, BBBS served more than 3,700 children with the help of 3,200 caring, committed volunteers. Thanks in large part to revenues generated by the Joe Schmit events, BBBS is able to match adult volunteers with children in need of a mentor.

Matched boys and girls are:

  • 46% less likely to start using illegal drugs
  • 33% less likely to hit someone
  • 27% less likely to start drinking alcohol
  • 52% less likely to skip a day of school

Serving the Twin Cities area for over 80 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities is a member in good standing and adheres to strict national standards as set forth by Big Brothers Big Sisters of America. As a nonprofit agency, the organization receives generous support from foundations, corporations, special events and individual donors in order to expand service to local at-risk youth. For more information on Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities and its programs, or if you are interested in becoming a Big Brother or Big Sister, call 651-789-2400 or visit http://www.bigstwincities.org.
