This three-day event is the largest fundraising event for Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities. Over the years, the Joe Schmit events have raised over $2.5 million and we anticipate that 2007 will be our best year ever.
Saturday, June 9 is the date for Joe's Grand Party, presented by Grand Casino, at the Minneapolis Convention Center Ballroom. All golfers, sponsors and their spouses are invited to this fun event to kick-off Joe Schmit 2007. The party features live entertainment from CBO, numerous celebrities, great food, and our fabulous silent and live auction. A limited number of tickets are available to the general public and friends of Big Brothers Big Sisters for $75 each. POPP.com presents the Joe Schmit Challenge at Hazeltine National Golf Club on Monday, June 11. Participants will enjoy a relaxing round of golf at one of the premier championship courses in the world, lunch, Hosted Cocktail Reception, dinner, food and beverages on the course, and a player gift package comparable to a PGA Tour Pro-Am. In the morning, all golfers are invited to compete in putting, chipping, wedge, flop and short iron contests for great prizes in the 2nd Wind Skills Challenge, presented by 2nd Wind Exercise Equipment. The Joe Schmit Challenge is not open to the public. A limited number of foursomes and corporate sponsorship packages are available, starting at $5,000 for a foursome. The Joe Schmit Celebrity Golf Tournament, presented by Petters Group Worldwide is scheduled for Tuesday, June 12 at Bunker Hills Golf Club. The tournament features a fun fivesome scramble format with a sports or media celebrity in each group, contests and prizes on every hole, great player gifts, tournament video, and much more. In the morning, sponsor VIP's and top area golf pros tee it up for the Denny Hecker Shoot-Out, presented by Denny Hecker's Auto Connection. This six-hole shoot-out, elimination format event has become one of the highlights of the Joe Schmit Celebrity Golf Tournament.
There are a limited number of foursome hole sponsor packages available for the Joe Schmit Celebrity Golf Tournament. If you are interested in a foursome sponsorship package (starting at $3,000), please call Pat Reis at 612-339-3905. This event is not open to the public. Most importantly, money raised from this event helps Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities match hundreds of kids with adult mentors. There are still hundreds of kids on the waiting list for a Big Brother or Big Sister. The fundraising helps match a large number of kids every year, but we need adult mentors to make the matches.
